Lauren Haig is an FEI level dressage rider who specializes in schooling, starting, lessons & show preparation with her business Haig Equestrian. Lauren and Elmo recently won the Big Tour (Grand Prix) Championship at the Syncroflex Festival of Future Stars in Canterbury.
Check out Lauren and Elmo here “I don't think Elmo would have got to Grand Prix without a WOW Saddle, he was really struggling with particular movements in other saddles. In the WOW he has so much more freedom and ease, and even at 14 years old he is continuing to build up in all the right places and become stronger and stronger – something that had plateaued in his previous saddle “ - Lauren Haig. Lauren and Elmo have an Extra Deep Seat in Black with Brown Nubuck Trim, Brown Stitching, Brown Nubuck Cantle Plate Cover and Brown Fancy Infill above the Cantle Plate. Dressage Equitana Flaps in Black leather with Brown Stitching, Black Wear Strip and Brown Fancy Infill with a Black Release Girth. |

I then moved all of my horses into the WOWs and found a huge difference in their overall way of going and improved development of top line with all of the horses going up in gullet sizes over subsequent Saddle fittings. I am a WOW convert for life! “ - Eleisha Walls For Dressage Eleisha rides in the Black Academic Seat with Equitana Movable Short Thigh Block Flaps and “Eleisha” engraved on the Cantle Plate. |

Penny Rieter
Penny started Mojo in his WOW Saddle at Level 5 Dressage, is now doing Level 7 and are aiming for Grand Prix.
Penny and Mojo recently won Reserve Champion Small Tour at the Syncroflex Festival of Future Stars in Christchurch. Jive Thyme (Mojo) is owned by Sue McCallum. Check out Penny and Mojo here “Now most people know about my lovely imported Holsteiner Stallion Cachassini II and his rather scopey jump, he was well known for his impressive free jumping pictures and videos. This didn’t change much when we first started jumping him under saddle. He often outjumped my poor rider out of the saddle, we tried numerous saddles and one day I was approached to try a WOW saddle. I was like "nooooooo not me, no way will I ride in a WOW!!". After much discussion the very persistent saddle fitter, Gemma arrived at my door with a car load of saddles to try on my horse. I listened, and over a couple of hours Tamara tried various versions of the specially made up jump saddle for Cach and surprisingly liked it. Still hesitant, I agreed to "try" this set up. |
|
In the weeks to follow not only did we have a very happy young stallion, still with the ridiculously scopey rear end, Tamara could stay in the saddle. I was learning to bite my tongue and open my ear a bit more to this WOW saddle. Now let’s get one thing straight, this saddle was specifically made to fit not only Cach but Tamara ... so yes, I did try to ride in the saddle and it simply didn’t work for me as I am complete opposite shape so no point in trying to attempt fate, I stuck to my own faithful dressage saddle when I rode him. Wasn’t long after we transitioned to the WOW jump saddle that Cach was sold overseas, but both Tamara and I were impressed with this jump saddle for him.
I got Mojo coming up 2 years ago, he was in poor skeletal condition and very ill. For the first 2 months he couldn’t be ridden due to the huge muscle wastage and he was just simply, very sick. He began to turn a corner, the twinkle in his eye was there again. I called up his owner, Sue, suggested to her we might need to find a saddle to fit him. She proceeded to groan about the $40,000 she had spent on saddles for this horse, I was shocked! OMG what is wrong with him. She bought his brand-new County over she had purchased new for him, unfortunately it did not fit him and certainly did not fit me. I tried every saddle I could get my hands on and any variation of them. I tried approx. 35 saddles and literally could not find a saddle to fit him or me. It was becoming a serious problem.
So again, in walks Gemma, she suggests we make up a saddle for Mojo. I was very hesitant as I like a deep saddle and I had briefly ridden in Cachs jump saddle, how was I going to find a dressage saddle to suit, NO WAY. I am tall and slim with long legs so finding me a saddle to fit in PLUS Mojo with his ever changing body shape what very difficult. So, months went by I procrastinated, finally got Gemma out again to inspect Mojo as he was developing muscle and a slight topline again, we decided step 1 would be to use a "Korrector Pad" underneath my current Spalding dressage saddle until he developed more. A few months later I knew it was time for step 2, I happened to be in CHCH for Canterbury Champs so arranged for her to come make up a saddle for him and me try it. Nothing like the day of the competition!! I wasn’t on till after lunch I had time to try a new saddle surely?? A couple of hours later I was cantering around on a horse that could stretch his neck to the ground! Never could or would he do that!! I was sitting straight, the saddle was moving, I wasn’t leaning back, and I HATE to admit it, but the saddle was bloody comfortable! Look lets be honest, it’s not going to win any beauty contest but baby jesus it was like I was riding a whole new horse, we found 5th, 6th and 7th gear!! I was like ... Ummmm I'm riding in it this afternoon!! Gemma explained I may need to get used to riding him in it and it was now a whole new horse to ride. Seriously she wasn’t wrong!! Mojo can trot, but now we are flying, I had so much air time I literally had to learn to ride this horse again. Regardless off I went to McLean’s Island, rode my tests and raised my scores by 5%! SOLD!
So, life changed, one year on I LOVE my WOW. Mojo loves his WOW and Sue loves the fact we are all going well and are happy! Happy horse, happy rider, happy owner!!
Never ever would I have thought I would be riding in a WOW, if you told me that 2 years ago I would be riding in a WOW, I would have laughed. I am NOW a strong advocate to trying something different, have an open mind, you might just be surprised.
Horses change shape so quickly and what I love about my saddle is that it can be changed to suit him and me along the way, I have had 3 changes in the past year, however you need to bear in mind Mojo has come a long way in his physical shape, strength and how he moves, we can adapt to that and NEED to. I now know when something needs tweaking and Gemma is just a phone call away. I’m so super happy with the saddle, Gemma’s service and look forward to a successful competition season.
I also find this saddle fits a wide range of horse no issues, so if I need to ride a horse in a saddle I always use Mojos and generally its fine.” - Penny Rieter
Penny and Mojo have an Extra Deep Seat in Black, Equitana Dressage Flaps with Moveable Thigh Blocks, and an Extended Forward Panel to fit Mojo's back.
The Korrector goes under a traditional saddle and has four large air bags containing air which moulds to the horse's back. the Korrector can also help address saddle balance and asymmetries. To learn more click here
